Press Release Summary: Pasadena, CA - EmploymentCrossing, the top-notch job board, has added 150,000-plus active jobs to its website in the last week. The website aims to support the states that have suffered the most severe job losses in the current economic downturn. According to government reports, about 47 states and the District of Columbia have seen an increase in their unemployment rates over the past year. EmploymentCrossing, meanwhile, has added a record-breaking number of jobs in most of these states in the past week.
Press Release Body: Florida, which was drenched last week by Tropical Storm Fay, was the leader of the pack in terms of shedding jobs, losing more than 96,800 jobs over the year. The US Department of Labor, however, has announced a grant of $20 million to fund 6,500 jobs in Florida. The jobs will be created for the purposes of cleaning, repairing, and reconstructing damaged structures and dilapidated buildings in the aftermath of Fay. EmploymentCrossing has added more than 47,000 jobs in Florida itself, which will allow the site to be a great source of employment to a number of people.
\'\'The government funds will help in providing humanitarian relief to the millions affected by Tropical Storm Fay,\'\' says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO and founder of EmploymentCrossing. \'\'But there is much to be done even now to restore Florida to its original self.\'\'
Michigan was the second biggest loser in terms of number of jobs lost over the year, shedding over 48,700 jobs. Arizona came in third, losing more than 41,300 jobs since July 2007. The unemployment rate in Arizona also rose from 3.7% last year to 5.1% this year. EmploymentCrossing statistics reveal, however, that the website currently offers 19,516 active jobs for Arizona-based professionals and 18,882 jobs for those in Michigan.
\'\'Florida, Arizona, and Michigan are leading the other states with consistent job losses over the year,\'\' says Barnes. \'\'EmploymentCrossing is focusing on these states especially for jobs, and believe it or not, has been successful in its endeavors.\'\'
According to Barnes, the top job types listed on EmploymentCrossing's website are:
* Managerial jobs (204,522 jobs) * Healthcare jobs (217,076 jobs) * Information technology jobs (156,975 jobs) * Engineering jobs (116,541 jobs) * Accounting jobs (78,891 jobs)
\'\'With a highly trained team of researchers who personally screen each and every job posted on EmploymentCrossing's portals, EmploymentCrossing seeks out, edits, approves, and tracks an elite collection of jobs on an ongoing basis,\'\' Barnes says. \'\'EmploymentCrossing is not for everyone - we are exclusive and private, and only members have access to our job-opening research.\'\'
